About Us

We are a private club that works to make boating an affordable, friendly, social activity on Okanagan Lake. Our Vision is "To be a premiere Canadian yacht club building on its rich history and meeting current and future needs of its members." Our tagline is "Rich in history and embracing the future, Kelowna Yacht Club is a boating community devoted to providing our members educational, social and recreational opportunities. We were formed in 1945 and have grown now to 1,350 members. Our moorage basin (marina is now Canada's largest and holds both power and sail boats. While we have a long and rich history in the community, we are also working toward the future by expanding our moorage to 1006 slips and are now in the process of building a new $9.6 million clubhouse with total floor space of 24,100 square feet. We have an active racing program for mixed sailing as well as one of Canada’s top women’s sailing programs, host the Canadian Power Squadron series of boating and marine courses in our facility, and operate a very successful adult and children’s sailing school which offers the only French immersion sailing program in North America. We provide our power-boating members with lots of organized activities as well as instruction in wakeboarding, skiing, boat-handling, docking and mooring skills. Our members are primarily families who enjoy boating, but we recently expanded our base to include social members who only wish to enjoy our land-based facilities, and corporate members, which allows organizations to use our dining, bar and meeting spaces, as well as keep one boat in our moorage basin.
