Logo Contest

Inland Ocean Lover

Wants

I want a strong, semi-simplistic, recognizable logo with a whimsical or memorable element. Blue does not have to be the only color. While the first main place it will be used will be on the blog header, I eventually want to use it on business cards and notes and such. I need it to be both online and print friendly. I would also like to see some with a tagline, but I would not be opposed if it looks better without it. I'll probably take design elements for the rest of the blog from the logo design--including color, fonts, etc. Because I need it to use it on multiple mediums, I need it to be scalable without loosing clarity. I'm fine with multiple formats.

Don't Wants

I don't want it to look too one animal specific. I know whale tails are used a lot, but I don't want to be limited strictly to whales. This doesn't mean whale tales are specifically off limits, but I want the logo to come off more universal. Although my favorite ocean animal is an orca if that will help any design consideration. I also don't want it to just come off as some vacation beach shop. I want it to have a serious, professional tone, but still have a whimsical element to it.

About Us

This is going to be a blog presence on WordPress. I am writing about ocean news from around the world from a land-locked perspective. I don't want it to have a severe political tone. My goal is to give more life to the animals to make them care instead of making people feel guilty. I'll cover ocean news, ocean literature, ocean movies, events, and attempts to be more environmentally friendly. I want it to have a fun conversational tone. My goal is to run ads and do affiliate marketing.
