Guys.. please.. no GRUNGE... This dates a logo. We want a design version of Eric Clapton not a dated Alannis Morisette...

No lettering that looks like it belongs on a magazine title. Come on!.. We have fonts... we came here for DESIGN!

No meaningless lettering without a smidgen of design. We can type lettering... we came here for design.
No one is going to get paid 250 dollars for typing three letters and popping a circle on it!

The design needs to show "motion", "action", "2d", "3d"...etc... The symbol that hits that spot will win.

No 1001 colors.. remember we also go to print with this. We'd like to be able to have single and halftone runs without worrying about the lack of color taking away character and brand recognition.

I'm sure that if you guarantee the contest and extend the time one week will be more designers involved and we will have enough time to give you what you want.
Things you say are fine, but one of the designs that have an higher rating contains a clipart (well, 2 designs from this guy contains a clipart) which can be found easily (and is not the Xpressions one), so, design can be found in Google too, I assume... :)

Speaking about fonts, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Wolfmother (all together) are Helvetica and Alannis Morisette is canadian. One thing is what do you think and another what it is... :)... so don't underestimate a classic font, because I assume that you don't understimate Eric Clapton because he was born in 1945. In fact, if you want a logo for 2 years use a "new look" font...

Just simple observations.

There is no grunge? when you say grunge I think of more of like a font on crack kind of font that looks all dotted and messy instead of clean like everyone has used. And if you just want a design and not the font why not just say you wanted a logo with no text? Usually when I think of a logo there is usually a design and text. So that's what I assumed. Just saying I'm not trying to be mean or anything at all because I'm not that kind of person. Just wanted to point that out.

But creating a Logotype is much more than typing it out in a plain font without even kerning it!

Anyway.. nothing we see here looks professional.. but thanks anyway.

Well from being in Graphic Design for my major I think a couple of these do look professional. They have a nice concept and design.

jpa.. If $250 isn't enough to cover your work, then don't submit. That's the budget, period.
I've worked with excellent creatives in the past that would leave your work in the fucking dust you moron.. for MUCH less than $250!
But guess what, his work for me received awards and was published in world-renown art and design journals. Which literally brought him hundreds of dollars in revenue per year. Aside from the fact that NONE of the so called 'designs' that you submitted were worth even 10% of the offered value... actually your work is work CRAP! You just think you're a designer but have no skills.

ha well now, I've never seen were the contest holder flips out. Fact is Bollinger, if you really wanted a high quality logo this is the wrong place to come. Being as selective as you are, you really should have a much closer working relationship with your designer. This site is for quick $25 to $150 logo where the designers spend an hour or two. It's hard for another to see your vision, but with a personal relationship, that message might be easier to convey to the designer. Good news is, no loss on your part. You still have your $250 and can spend it, hopefully, somewhere else wisely...

Oh my god, to seriously offend everyone here is really stupid. Because excuse me I'm going to school for graphic design. If you expect everyone to design just as great as your friend go somewhere else. And besides everyone designs differently. Not everybody is going to have some excellent piece of work and how do you even know that some of us on here have other great work besides doing logos you can't just assume stuff like that. I don't think anyone should even help you now for saying that we are losers, assholes, and can't design.

Dezinart, please speak for your own. In this site there are designers who employ fifteen minutes to present a project and people who expend days finding the best options to present the project. In this site there are no-designers, designers for hobby, students and profesional designers. So please don't generalize. I agree with your "personal relationship" idea but not with the other things. I don't think Xpressions, Jeda or JenniferH22 (for example, but there are more) employ only fifteen minutes (or 2 hours) making a project.

But if one thing is clear like water is that there are a lot of things more important than money. Like respect. Is the third time I have here a "fight" with people like Bollinger. People like Bollinger thinks that, because they offer some money, they can treat others as prostitutes (and sorry for the word, but is the word I must use). So the good thing is not that finally maybe Bollinger keeps his money, the good thing is that he don't know nothing about design because he has not been able to recognize what logo contains a clipart with my clues...
So, really, Bollinger, I understand: you really have a life were you don't need money -I don't really need to do logos on this webpage too because, for example, last mont I get exactly 3510 euros for my work- because I'm sure that you earn a subsidy from the State for have just one neuron.

JenniferH22, don't let your blood get to a boilling point with people like Bollinger. You will find a lot in your career as designer.

Well jpa, it is my opinion. You don't need to agree with it, but really for what he wanted and he comes to this site? This site really is a joke. No one should be offering more than $100 for a logo on here.

I'd really like to hear some of the theology behind some of these logos. #41 is brilliant. I can see the B and the D and it's elegant, yet strong as well as a strong symbol that can be easily recognized and reproduced across any medium at any size. It still has a sense of movement and motion in it.

#37 and #52 are also very nice, but apparently not what the client was looking for.

But #48... now that looks like a cock and set of balls ejaculation.

If I were a smart man and really wanted to take advantage of people, do you know what I'd do? Whenever I received a job I would come to this site. I would post the job and set the prize money. Then when the contest was over I'd simply reproduce the a logo I liked for my client and present it as my own. I wonder how many times that's happened...

Whatever, you've said that this site is a joke and that no one should be offering more than $100 for a logo here, but you recognize that there are some good logos. I've not speaked about your work and I will not speak of yours but I'm certanly sure you have a rare sexual disorder that makes you want to see what you want. Maybe you should stop visiting Porntube or the site you visit regularly...

It is very dissappointing to see what became of this thread/contest. There is no need (nor place) for insults from neither the contest holder nor designers.

The client is entitled to have his opinions on what is being presented, albeit, more tact could be used considering nobody here is getting paid a dime until a winner (ONE PERSON ONLY) is declared and the final transaction is completed. Art is subjective, and we all have different views and tastes. And while there are some designers who lack skill, this is where they come to practice and interact with clients. It costs nothing to be polite....

And of course, clipart should not be passed along as original work. It's a great thing when designers make the holder aware of such situations. One of the benefits of using a design firm is all the market research they do to ensure you don't end up with copied designs, but it also comes with a hefty price tag. But to categorize the community or the forum as a whole (or in this case, ASSHOLES), was uncalled for, inappropriate and simply unprofessional (though I understand his frustration).

The "in fighting" is just as sad. We really shouldn't be insulting each other and dissing the forum, but supporting each other and making this a better site for both contest holders and designers alike.

I would like to see this thread cleaned up by the admins....
